WHERE/HOW DO I PAY SUPPORT?

Please see our "How do I pay Child Support" page

Warning:

If you pay the other parent with cash or buy things for your children,

it is considered a GIFT.  You may not get credit on your support.

Always pay through one of the places above.

HOW LONG DO I PAY SUPPORT?

   Until your child is emancipated.

   This may happen when:

  • Your child turns 19
  • After age 19 if your child is disabled
  • The Court decides that your child is emancipated for any reason

 WHAT IF THINGS CHANGE?

  • One parent’s income goes up or down
  • My child leaves home
  • I am sent to prison
  • My child is removed by CPS (Child Protection)
  • I get put on disability
  • My child moves in with me
  • The other parent and I are living together
  • Something else that may make a big difference in the child support

Then you may want to file a PETITION TO MODIFY

Your support order does not change unless you file the Petition AND the judge grants it.

WHAT IF I DON’T GET MY VISITATION?

Child Support and Visitation are two separate issues.  Just because you are not getting visitation does not mean you do not have to pay child support.  Talk to an attorney regarding visitation or custody issues, but keep paying your child support!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET BEHIND?

You could have:

  • Liens put on your cars/truck/other property
  • Your license to drive or your professional license suspended
  • Your passport suspended
  • Your tax return intercepted
  • The credit bureau notified

and

you could be found in contempt of court/charged with a felony.  If so, you could be sentenced to jail or community service.

REMEMBER!  Call our office at 765-747-7774 to report changes: job, address, living together

CALL:  1-800-840-8757 for payment information
