Juvenile Law

As unfortunate as it may be, the truth is there are a large number of crimes committed each year in Delaware County by children.  The Delaware County Prosecutor's Office strives to ensure that our community is as safe as possible for its residents.  For this to happen, it is imperative that these crimes be reported to our local law enforcement agencies.  This will allow us not only to keep our community safe, but also to ensure that these children are receiving the appropriate punishment and/or services necessary in order to break the criminal cycle that all-to-often leads these juvenile offenders to continue down this path.

While reporting of criminal or delinquent behavior is an important step, it is only part of the solution.  To truly have a chance at breaking this cycle, PARENTS have to get involved.  That entails more than merely showing up for court hearings and making sure your child is attending school on a regular basis.  Parents need to know what the process is and what is expected of them.  By educating themselves, parents are providing their children with a better chance of living successful, productive lives free from entanglment in the criminal justice system.
