The property boundaries and other GIS lines were created using a variety of source materials. Whenever possible, legal surveys and recorded deeds were used to input precise dimensions into the GIS. In all other cases, boundaries were derived from the most recent available records, which often included large paper historic plat books maintained in the Auditor’s and Assessor’s offices.
Please note: GIS property lines are not a legal survey and should not be relied upon for physically locating a property boundary. Property owners should obtain a legal survey from a licensed Indiana Land Surveyor to determine the accurate physical boundaries of their property.
