Delaware County Officials Meet to Prepare for Extreme Cold and Snow Event
Delaware County officials met this week to review and coordinate preparedness plans in advance of a forecasted period of extreme cold and snowfall. The meeting brought together representatives from County Commissioners, Emergency Management, County Highway, Sheriff’s Office, and Emergency Medical Service agencies to ensure a unified and proactive response to potential winter weather impacts.
During the meeting, officials discussed strategies to maintain essential services, monitor weather conditions, and respond efficiently to emergencies. Emphasis was placed on interagency coordination, timely communication, and readiness to address hazardous travel conditions, power disruptions, and increased public safety needs as the winter weather event approaches.
County officials are encouraging residents to take steps now to stay safe during extreme cold and snow. The public is advised to limit travel when possible, dress in warm layers, and ensure homes are properly heated. Residents should prepare vehicles for winter driving and keep emergency supplies on hand, including food, water, blankets, and fully charged mobile devices. Officials also urge community members to check on elderly neighbors, individuals with disabilities, and others who may be especially vulnerable to cold temperatures.
Delaware County will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates and safety information through official county communication channels.
