Delaware County, Indiana

Discover Delaware County - an east central Indiana community of opportunity

On July 1, 2012 the Indiana smoke-free air law will go into effect, prohibiting smoking in most public places and workplaces across Indiana.

Since Delaware County's local smoke-free air ordinance is stronger than the statewide law, all Delaware County workplaces and public places will remain 100% smoke-free without exemptions.

There are two affects that the statewide law will have on the Delaware County community. First, smoking will be prohibited within 8 feet of all public entrances to all workplaces and public places within the county. Second, all workplaces and public places will be required by state law to post signage indicating that smoking is prohibited within 8 feet of public entrances and within workplaces and public places.

Information about the statewide smoke-free air law and free signage can be found at http://www.in.gov/atcor http://www.breatheindiana.com. All questions about the statewide law should be directed to the Indiana State Alcohol and Tobacco Commission at http://www.in.gov/atc.
